BRAZILIAN CAPOEIRA ANGOLA MOVEMENT AND MUSIC CLASSES-Participants will learn the music and movement of Brazilian Capoeira Angola with Brazilian Master Artist-Mestre Caboclinho. Classes for adults and youth 7 and up. No experience is necessary or required. Participants will also increase flexibility, fitness, learn the history of the art, learn music in Portuguese, basic samba dance steps and have fun!
BRAZILIAN DRUMS & RHYTHMS; Learn the rhythms of Brazil through fun and lively classes and workshops. Rhythms including Samba Reggae, Suing da Bahia, Samba Batucada and much more. Participants get the opportunity to drum in our annual street festival. Classes taught by Mestre Caboclinho.
BRAZILIAN DAY STREET ARTS FESTIVAL: In 2013, the organization launched the first public Brazilian arts festival in Sacramento on 20th street between J and K. Since that time, the Brazilian Day Sacramento Street Arts Festival has brought amazing cultural folkloric performances and music with professional artists. Exposing communities to diverse cultural art forms and provides opportunities for people to participate in these arts. This free festival attracts hundreds to 20th street annually. BRAZILIAN FOLKLORIC ARTS, DANCE AND MUSIC WORKSHOPS: Throughout the year, the organization offers opportunities to learn with various Brazilian professional percussionists, Brazilian Samba and folkloric dance teachers and other Brazilian arts classes. Check our calendar and sign-up through email to get notices regarding guest artist workshops.
PERFORMANCES AND WORKSHOPS: Organization is available to provide Brazilian folkloric arts performances for festivals and events. Organization has performed for Davis Whole Earth Festival, International House of Davis Arts Festival, Sacramento State Dance Sampler, Latino Heritage Festival, Stockton Cultural Arts Festival, Festa Junina, San Francisco Carnaval, African World Festival, Concert of Colors, Detroit Festival of the Arts and Toyota Diversity Festival.
In addition to performances, we have also partnered with many schools and community organizations to conduct Brazilian Capoeira Angola workshops including Cass Technical High School, Rosa Parks K-8, Midtown Washington Elementary School, Oak Park Recreation Center and Sutterville Elementary School. We have also partnered with the Kennedy Gallery to support AIDS/HIV fundraisers and the homeless shelter in midtown Sacramento to provide classes for the homeless.
